Essential Oil
Hinoki oil made from timber and thinned wood collected from various regions of Japan.
Japan's vast land area, approximately two-thirds of its total area, or about 25 million hectares, is covered by forests. While not widely known, Japan's forest resources (forest stock) are increasing year by year, and the logging rate is only about 0.5% of its total forest holdings.
While the increase in forests might seem like a welcome development, it also means an increase in unmanaged natural forests. Generally, younger trees, between 11 and 40 years old, absorb more CO2. Trees that are thin and emaciated due to high forest density, as well as older trees, absorb less CO2, and in Japan, the number of older trees continues to increase year after year. Using not only "main felled timber" used for building materials, but also "thinned timber," which is surplus wood, is crucial for the healthy growth of managed forests.
Therefore, with the cooperation of the people of Hinohara Village in Tokyo, we have decided to create original wooden goods. This oil is a 100% natural pure essential oil. The cypress wood used is "Shimanto cypress" from Kochi Prefecture, and the hiba wood used is "Aomori hiba," both highly fragrant and prized woods.
