Craftsman Pencil
A series of pencils made with domestically produced lead, crafted by artisans at a long-established factory in downtown Tokyo.
Yotsugi in Katsushika Ward, Tokyo, is a downtown area that has long been home to many stationery factories. The Katsushika area is home to numerous small factories with exceptionally high levels of technical skill. However, in today's market, overseas products dominate, and opportunities to utilize their technical expertise are decreasing year by year.
We decided to collaborate with the craftsmen in these downtown factories to develop high-quality Japanese-made stationery. This CRAFTSMAN PENCIL was produced by the stationery manufacturer "Hokusei Pencil." While the company was registered in 1951 (Showa 26), they began manufacturing pencils in 1909 (Meiji 42), making them a long-established manufacturer with over 100 years of history.
The pencil lead used in the CRAFTSMAN PENCIL comes from the only manufacturer in Japan that uses domestically produced lead. The biggest characteristic of domestically produced lead is that it is "softer" than typical overseas leads. Because the graphite adheres easily to paper, it is ideal for drawing tasks such as sketching and illustration.
Featuring a beautiful gradient color scheme based on different hardness levels, this long-selling product is a favorite among creators and illustrators. We encourage you to try its superb writing feel for yourself.
